Day 1 – Belz and the Ria d'Étel

Day 1 – Belz and the Ria d'Étel

Begin your stay gently by exploring Belz and the Ria d'Étel, your base camp for these 4 days. After settling in at Le Moulin des Oies Campsite, head out to discover the islet of Saint-Cado, accessible on foot via its charming stone bridge. Admire the small Romanesque chapel and enjoy the panorama over the ria. In the early afternoon, take the Tro Belz trail for a 2 to 3-hour loop between coastal paths and flower-filled meadows. Stop at the port of Niscop to watch the oyster farmers at work. At the end of the day, head down to the port of Étel to savour a dozen oysters as the sun sets over the Barre d'Étel. This natural spectacle, where the ria meets the ocean, is absolutely breathtaking at rising tide.

⭐ Plus : a first day of Breton heritage, hiking and oyster tasting

Day 2 – Carnac and its megaliths

Head to Carnac, just 25 minutes from Belz, for a day between prehistory and coastline. In the morning, visit the famous menhir alignments, the largest megalithic site in the world with over 3,000 standing stones. The Museum of Prehistory perfectly complements the visit with its exceptional collections. For lunch, make your way to Carnac town centre and its many creperies: try a galette complete with a bowl of artisan cider. In the afternoon, enjoy the Grande Plage de Carnac, a long ribbon of fine sand facing due south, ideal for a swim or a lazy afternoon. If you are feeling sporty, hire a bike and ride the greenway that runs along the coast to the port of La Trinité-sur-Mer, a renowned sailing hub.

⭐ Plus : a day between prehistoric mysteries and seaside pleasures

Day 3 – Quiberon and the Wild Coast

Dedicate this day to the Quiberon peninsula, one of the jewels of South Brittany. Take the road via the Penthièvre isthmus and stop to admire this spectacular strip of land between two seas. In the morning, explore the Côte Sauvage (Wild Coast) on foot: the jagged cliffs, sea caves and natural arches offer a grandiose spectacle. The coastal path runs along the entire west coast for around 8 km, with breathtaking viewpoints. For lunch, settle into one of the terraces at Port-Maria to savour a seafood platter. In the afternoon, head to the Pointe du Conguel at the southern tip of the peninsula: the panorama over Belle-Île, Houat and Hoëdic is magnificent. If the weather permits, board a 45-minute crossing to Belle-Île-en-Mer for an unforgettable island escape.

Day 4 – Vannes and the Gulf of Morbihan

For your final day, head to Vannes, the prefecture of Morbihan, around 45 minutes from Belz. In the morning, lose yourself in the medieval lanes of the historic centre: half-timbered houses, flower-lined ramparts, Saint-Pierre Cathedral and the rampart gardens create an enchanting setting. Do not miss the covered market at Les Lices, open every day, to stock up on local specialities: kouign-amann, far breton, salted-butter caramels and galettes-saucisses. After lunch, embark on a cruise in the Gulf of Morbihan, this small inland sea dotted with around forty islands. The roughly 2-hour cruise passes by Île-aux-Moines and Île d'Arz, offering ever-changing landscapes shaped by the currents. Back in Belz at the end of the day, enjoy one last sunset over the ria before leaving this corner of paradise.
